San Diego enjoys one of the most enviable reputations for a sun-belt city without the extremes of temperature of the southwest desert areas, and also without the high humidity of tropical areas. The average temperature only varies about 10 degrees all year round! The sun smiles brightly almost all year, with the exception of early morning "marine layer" clouds during summer months. Here is a fact sheet about the area in general:

With an outdoor climate second to none, many people move here to enjoy outdoor activities and our famous beaches year round. But the area has many other attractions for both the resident and the tourist. Here are some sites that allow you to explore many facets of culture, recreation and sightseeing at any time of year.

Many of San Diego's attractions are world famous and have their own web sites. Here are a few samples:

But great "play" is not all that San Diego has to offer. San Diego county has 5 major universities, a number of smaller specialized ones, a thriving opera company, many outstanding live theater companies and much else that would fall under the heading of "cultural amenities". One of the strengths of the San Diego area is the diversity of its communities. Some are nestled in the mountains, others stretched out along the coast, while still others are in rolling hills, others in flatter areas... You name it, San Diego probably has a neighborhood like it, and the costs of real estate varies widely with these areas. Here are zoomable maps of the entire area:

While in general it is safe to say that the more expensive properties are on the coast and living costs are more moderate inland, there are exclusive inland developments as well as reasonably priced locales within a stone's throw of the beaches. Here are some sites describing these areas of the county and realtors selling properties in every price range:
